Jaclynn Moskow

Professional Poker Player,
Consultant Physician Scientist

Dr. Moskow is a professional poker player who focuses exclusively on cash games. In addition to playing poker full time, she volunteers as adjunct faculty and conducts medical research at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Moskow completed her undergraduate degree at The University of Pittsburgh Honors College where she created her own major entitled Molecular Biology and the History of Medicine while minoring in Chemistry. She graduated with a Bachelor of Philosophy, a degree contingent on defending a thesis to a committee of examiners, including an outside examiner chosen from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. While in school, she worked full time in a virology laboratory, interned at a Stem Cell Transplantation Clinic, and took various summer school classes at Harvard University. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree, she spent two years working for The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine as a Research Specialist before enrolling at Nova Southeastern University for medical school. There, she was one of two students chosen to complete a Pre-Doctoral Research Fellowship. During her final year of medical school, she did several externships across the country in various subfields of psychiatry, studying at The University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital, The University of Pittsburgh Western Psychiatric Hospital, and Yale University Psychiatric Hospital.

After graduating medical school, Dr. Moskow determined that she did not wish to pursue a career seeing patients, citing, "I feel as if the US government and managed care industry have usurped the field of medicine. This is a topic that I am very passionate about, as it is not only an extreme problem for physicians, but very detrimental for patients, as well." She decided she could best use her medical background and degree by volunteering and continuing to conduct research. She also realized that her advanced understanding of mathematics and probability, coupled with her knowledge of human psychology, offered the perfect combination for earning income via cash game poker. She began avidly studying the game and playing extensive hours. When asked about the future, Dr. Moskow responds, "I definitely have several books in me on various topics and see myself as an author down the road, but for the time being I am primarily focused on poker."
